VCE Psychology Incursion

Year 11 and 12 Unit 4 Psychology students are currently studying all things consciousness, including sleep. We spend one third of our whole life in this altered state of consciousness and is often something we get deprived of in our busy lives. On the 31st of July Julie, a sleep scientist from the Epworth Sleep Lab, gave the students a talk about the role of sleep, how they investigate sleep and some of the disturbances and disorders people commonly present with when they go to a sleep lab. Jo also demonstrated how certain devices work including the EEG (brainwaves). The students were able to see the practical applications of what is being taught in class, giving them a deeper understanding of the theory and content they will be assessed on in the near future.
